Ergon Capital (“Ergon”) is looking to recruit an Analyst (just graduated or with up to 2 years of work experience) to support the development of its ESG & Sustainability strategy and initiatives throughout Europe. The recruited candidate will be based in its Paris office but his/her scope of work will be pan-European.

Over the last few years, Ergon has put ESG & Sustainability at the core of its strategy and is looking today for an Analyst to contribute to the acceleration of the implementation of this strategy, in direct collaboration with Patrick Gavoty, Managing Director and Head of ESG & Sustainability, with the rest of the Ergon team, as well as progressively with Ergon’s portfolio companies CEOs and investors.


Key Areas of Responsibility

In the context of this newly created role, the recruited candidate will be involved, on a pan-European basis, in a very large number of different streams, all contributing to the strengthening of Ergon’s sustainable impact:
-    Work closely with the deal teams to identify targets with a sustainable business model and to carry out ESG due diligences once identified;
-    Work closely with the deal teams and the CEOs/managers of our portfolio companies to determine how a portfolio company could further strengthen its sustainable activities and accordingly adjust its business model;
-    Support our portfolio companies in the annual measurement and the reduction of their carbon emissions, in collaboration with our external carbon partner (Carbone 4);
-    Follow-up with our portfolio companies on the achievement of annual social barometers to strengthen internal teams’ dynamics and talent development, in collaboration with our external partner (Business & Values);
-    Support our portfolio companies in the reporting of their extra-financial KPIs and in the definition of their ESG policies;
-    Identify and select charities across Europe to be financed by Ergon’s in-house foundation, the Ergon Capital Fund (ECF);
-    Contribute to the development of Ergon’s initiatives in favour of youth and education, included but not limited to 1-on-1 mentorings, career workshops and internship/job opportunities for underserved young people, fundraising for hospitalised children (through our internal running event, the Ergon Challenge, which gathered 1,500 participants last year, etc.), #ErgonForUkraine, etc.
-    Support the publication of our annual sustainability report and of other public communications and reportings to our investors;
-    Participate to raising awareness and promoting sustainability to both internal and external stakeholders, as well as to the broader investment community;
-    Contribute to Ergon’s overall strategy regarding sustainability.


Candidate Profile
 
The candidate has experience (through up to 2 years of full-time professional experience) of an ESG/Sustainability role within a corporate, fund or in a specialized ESG/Sustainability consulting firm.
 
The candidate speaks fluently French and English; Dutch, German, Italian or Spanish being a plus.
 
Other personal characteristics are:
-    Loyal, willing to join a team for a long-term commitment;
-    Flexible and creative, yet with a natural authority, to build empathy within the firm and win the trust of the management of the invested companies;
-    Organized, reliable and methodical;
-    Highly numerate;
-    Hard working and goal oriented;
-    Team player, diplomatic with high emotional intelligence and pleasant to work with;
-    Self-confident but not arrogant; and,
-    International background, with preferably an educational or working experience abroad, which would prove the candidate’s adaptability and openness.
